Consultation
Do you ever want to discuss a personal matter or challenge with a trusted individual who can provide nonjudgemental and psychologically informed feedback? Do you ever wish you could consult with a psychologist regarding concerns you have about a family member or a friend's mental health? Do you want to help someone who is struggling but don’t know how? The consultation services I offer are for situations like these. They are meant to be either short-term (even just one meeting) or longer term, depending on your needs and preferences. Consultation services are not a full course of psychological treatment.

Additionally, I offer consultation services to agencies, organizations, businesses, etc. to help them better support the mental health of their employees and the people they serve.

Assessment
I conduct psychodiagnostic assessments for most psychological disorders. The purpose of a psychodiagnostic assessment is generally to provide diagnostic clarity and follow-up recommendations, whether this is the first time a psychological assessment is being sought due to mental health concerns or the assessment is requested to obtain a second opinion on a previously diagnosed psychological disorder. Following a psychodiagnostic assessment, you may decide to initiate psychotherapy with me or another mental health clinician, if such treatment is indicated, or you may decide to pursue other options. Completing a psychodiagnostic assessment is not a commitment to continuing with any other services I offer or implementing the follow-up recommendations I provide.
* Please note: Everyone initiating psychotherapy with me undergoes a general intake assessment during the first 1-3 sessions. Additional specialized assessments (for example, personality assessment) may be recommended during the intake assessment or at any time during a course of psychotherapy.

Treatment
We all experience moments of emotional pain, but when stress, anxiety, or depressed mood begin to take over, it can be hard to see a way through. To help cope with the intense emotional pain, you might resort to engaging in unhealthy behaviors, such as aggression, disordered eating, heavy alcohol or drug use, gambling, licentiousness, or actions that can cause you and/or others physical harm. While these behaviors may provide temporary relief, they do not address the underlying cause of the emotional pain and often make things worse in the long run.

Additionally, psychological trauma, whether a single traumatic event or repeated, chronic, or complex traumatic experiences, can have lasting impressions on both body and mind. You might feel “stuck”—caught between wanting to move forward and feeling pulled back by memories, emotions, and reactions related to the past that seem to be outside of your control.
Also, while we know that relationships are central to our wellbeing, some relationships can be a source of stress, anxiety, or confusion. Navigating conflict, struggling with effective interpersonal communication, or being emotionally drained by one-sided relational dynamics, can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about a path forward.
The evidence-based treatments I utilize can support you as you navigate such life challenges and help you:

-
Gain clarity regarding your personal and interpersonal circumstances
-
Understand the connections between your feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and environment
-
Process traumatic experiences so that you can move forward toward healing and recovery
-
Develop effective skills for regulating emotions
-
Change ineffective habits and behaviors
-
Improve the relationships that are important to you
-
Live (again) a life that you find authentic, meaningful, and aligned with your personal values
I offer individual (one-on-one) psychotherapy services for a wide range of psychological issues and disorders, including personal, relational, and environmental stress; marital, familial, communal, and spiritual conflict; identity confusion and development; anxiety; depression; anger management difficulties; organization and time management challenges; and adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Further, I specialize in treating the following areas:

-
Unresolved grief and psychological trauma
-
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
-
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
-
Substance use disorders
-
Behavioral addictions
Additionally, I offer couple therapy for couples who are experiencing relational problems or distress or who are looking for ways to enhance and deepen the quality of their relationship. I also facilitate a DBT skills-based psychotherapy group once a week.

I integrate a number of evidence-based treatments, including classical cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches, while also drawing on psychoanalytic principles and processes. Treatments are delivered flexibly and are individualized based on each client's unique needs, goals, and preferences. Above all, I strive to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, characterized by warmth, compassion, trust, and collaboration on treatment goals.

Prevention
We shouldn't need to wait until significant mental health issues develop before we seek mental health services. Prevention can go a long way and save us a lot of distress, time, and money. I offer prevention services such as annual or biannual mental health and wellness check-ins, planning for upcoming stressful life events or life transitions (e.g., holidays, starting college, starting a new job, weddings, parenting, relocating, etc.), or helping people work through mild psychological distress. I also offer psychological enhancement services for individuals who are seeking to gain deeper insight of their inner self, clarify their personal values, develop purpose and meaning in life, and enhance their overall psychological wellbeing.

Clinical Supervision
I offer clinical supervision for psychology doctoral students and pre-licensed psychologists. I also provide clinical consultation for licensed mental health practitioners.

Education
I offer opportunities to speak to individuals, groups, and organizations to provide education and awareness about mental wellness, mental illness, mental health treatment, and general psychological subjects. Resources on some of this topics are also provided on the Resources page.

I am not in-network with any insurance company, Medicaid, Medicare, or any other third-party payor. This provides clients several benefits, such as not needing to have a specific diagnosis to be eligible for psychological services, not having limits on the number or frequency of sessions, and ensuring greater confidentiality with no third-party involvement. Additionally, because we are not restricted by third-party requirements, we can focus on the what you are truly seeking and collaboratively develop a customized plan that best suits your unique needs, preferences, and goals.

I do provide invoices and statements for services rendered, which can be submitted for potential reimbursement from a health insurance provider, health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or other third-party payor.
